The short version

BirdFrame is a Mac app that finds hard-to-see birds in your photos and crops each one in the framing you want: Tight, Balanced or Wide. It works on Apple Photos albums, where crops are reversible edits, and on folders of JPEG, PNG or HEIC files, where it exports new JPEGs and leaves the originals untouched. Everything runs on-device. It's free for up to 50 photos per run; a one-time $29.99 purchase removes the limit. macOS 15 or later.

Why it exists

A friend of mine was spending hours cropping thousands of bird photos and squinting at them to decide which to keep. I built BirdFrame to help him. Batch cropping made that review much faster, so I turned it into an app for everyone who comes home with a card full of small birds.

Media

Free to use in coverage of BirdFrame. Photos are the developer's own.
